Lagos Law Enforcement Pulls Special Unit from Road Patrol Assignments

The Lagos State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police CP Tijani Fatai, has instructed the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit to immediately cease all traffic control and enforcement activities across the state.

This directive was communicated to the public through a statement issued on Tuesday by Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi, who acted on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.

The decision to withdraw the unit from traffic management is part of a broader effort to reorganize traffic operations, enhance accountability, and foster professionalism among the agencies responsible for enforcement duties.

Although the unit will no longer be involved in traffic-related matters, it will continue to perform its other legally mandated duties throughout the state, as clarified by the police.

The Command warned residents against making generalizations or incorrectly identifying the various enforcement agencies operating in Lagos, emphasizing that the disbanded unit is not the only taskforce active in the state.

Motorists and the general public are advised to confirm the identity of officials before lodging complaints or making allegations, especially those related to traffic enforcement.
