Lagos Hairdresser Smashes Record with 90-Hour Non-Stop Cutting Streak in Bid for Guinness World Record

Ikechukwu Damilola, a 24-year-old hairstylist known as the "Transformation King," has reached the 90-hour mark in his 120-hour Guinness World Record hairdressing marathon, which began on June 10.

The marathon, being held at the Oto-Awori Local Council Development Area in Ijanikin, Lagos, is under the watchful eyes of Guinness World Record officials, with the goal of finishing by Monday, June 10 having started the attempt.

According to the Chairman of the LCDA, Mr. Kareem Abiodun, who is sponsoring the event, the marathon underscores the significance of youth skills development, with Damilola having 30 hours left to complete his record attempt.

Damilola, an alumnus of the Lagos State University of Education, revealed that his passion for hairdressing started in 2006 and has since taught the skill in several schools, driven by his conviction that skills and talent can generate wealth and opportunities.

He cited his faith and the desire to make people look good as his primary sources of inspiration, stating that "looking good is good business," which motivates him to push through the challenging marathon.

The event has drawn visits from high-ranking state officials, including the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, and the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, among others, who have come to show their support.

The marathon has also attracted a significant following from fans and continues to captivate the attention of professionals in the beauty industry, who are eager to see Damilola achieve his goal and set a new Guinness World Record.
