Lagos APC inaugurates newly elected executives, warns against division

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State on Friday inaugurated newly elected executive committee members across its local government and ward structures.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the APC State Secretariat in Acme, Ogba, Ikeja, followed the party’s decision to reschedule the event after the death of its Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro.

Yesiro reportedly died on Wednesday evening, less than 24 hours after he was re-elected as Assistant Publicity Secretary during the Lagos APC State Congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, formerly known as Onikan Stadium.

Speaking during the inauguration, the Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, urged the new executives to demonstrate diligence and commitment to the party’s ideals.

He called on members to remain united and avoid divisive tendencies, especially as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 general elections.

Ojelabi said the inauguration marked an important step in strengthening the party’s organisational structure ahead of future electoral activities.

n

“We found you worthy to be elected to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years. Your role is critical to the growth and consolidation of the party,” he said.

The chairman noted that the party’s electoral success in Lagos over the years had largely been driven by its strong grassroots network and urged the newly inaugurated executives to sustain the tradition.

“The responsibility before you is enormous. You must be diligent in the discharge of your duties and remain committed to the ideals of the party,” he added.

Ojelabi also stressed the need for unity among party members, urging leaders and stakeholders to avoid actions capable of creating divisions within the party.

According to him, the executives were elected through a democratic process and must work collectively to strengthen the party’s presence in their respective wards and local government areas.

He noted that the executives assumed office at a critical period for the party and would play an important role in consolidating the achievements recorded by the APC in the state over the years.

Ojelabi further urged them to work closely with local government party leadership and intensify grassroots mobilisation.

n

“Work starts immediately. Let the leadership in your local government know you have been sworn in and work together to strengthen the party’s structure,” he said.

The chairman assured the new executives of the support of the party leadership and the state government to ensure continued growth and success of the party in the state.
