Lady Motara dazzles in her inaugural UK theatre appearance

Popular content creator, Grace Akanni-Lawrence, known as Lady Motara, has earned rave reviews following her stage debut in the Nollywood comedy production, ‘No Wahala Therapy,’ staged in London over two nights.

The play, directed by Mofe Duncan and produced by M54 Productions, explored themes of migration, identity and the struggles associated with the popular “Japa” movement among Africans abroad.

Lady Motara shared the stage with notable Nollywood stars including Odunlade Adekola, Timini Egbuson, Bamike ‘BamBam’ Olawunmi and Ronke Oshodi.

According to a statement released by the team on Saturday, the talented creator delivered a standout performance that left audiences and critics impressed during the two-night show in London.

“She didn’t just share the stage with the greats. She became one of them, right before our eyes,” the statement read.

The production was described as a comedy that blended humour with emotional storytelling, while Mofe Duncan’s direction was praised for its pace and energy.

Audience members also commended Lady Motara’s performance, describing her as “funny, fearless and completely magnetic.”

An audience member after the first night said, “Lady Motara was an absolute revelation, funny, fearless, and completely magnetic. She matched every heavyweight on that stage moment for moment. A debut performance to remember.”

Another theatre-goer after the second night added, “I wasn’t familiar with her before the show, but I’ll never forget her after it. She commanded that stage like a veteran. Truly outstanding.”

The statement further noted that clips from the production circulated widely on social media after the performances, with fans in the United Kingdom and beyond praising her delivery and stage presence.

“If No Wahala Therapy was Lady Motara’s introduction to the world’s stage, consider the world thoroughly introduced. She arrived in London as a rising star. She left as something altogether more certain, a force to be reckoned with,” the statement added.
