Labour Party currently has no active presence on social media platforms, according to Asogwa

The Labour Party is currently not operating any social media accounts, according to its Senior Special Adviser, Ken Asogwa, who made this clarification in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

Asogwa, who is the Media Adviser to the party's Interim National Chairman, stated that the party's leadership had been made aware of a fraudulent X account, *“LABOUR PARTY (LP) NIG”*, with the handle *@LabourpartyNGR_*, which falsely claims to be the party's official account.

This account had previously been disowned by the party in a statement issued in February, and despite this, its operators had made changes to the account name and handle in an attempt to deceive the public, Asogwa revealed.

The party's known social media accounts, which are currently inactive, are *Facebook: Labour Party-Nig* with approximately 12,000 followers, and *X: LabourPartyNG* with approximately 837,000 followers, Asogwa said.

The Labour Party has petitioned the Nigerian Police to help recover its official X account, *LabourPartyNG*, which is currently controlled by the former party leadership, and the matter is being investigated by the Force Intelligence Department.

Individuals involved, including Barr. Julius Abure and Alhaji Umar Farouk, are cooperating with the investigation and providing relevant information about their activities, including the unauthorized use of the party's social media platforms.

Asogwa assured that the public would be informed once the investigation is concluded and the accounts are recovered, and in the meantime, all official information would be disseminated through authorized press statements from the Office of the Interim National Chairman.

The Labour Party does not use social media for public communication, and any information from the fraudulent account *@LabourpartyNGR_* or the *LabourPartyNG* account should be disregarded, Asogwa warned.

A recent post claiming that the party is expecting the return of Mr Peter Obi and Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is entirely unauthorized and does not reflect the party's position, Asogwa clarified.

Asogwa expressed gratitude to the media for their professionalism and balanced reportage of the party's activities, and appreciated their continued vigilance in reporting on the party's affairs.
