Kente pulls out of Taraba state APC governorship race

With barely 24 hours to go before the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election, Chief David Sabo Kente, a prominent aspirant and former member of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) board, has formally withdrawn from the contest. This move comes as a surprise, given his previous stance, but is aimed at maintaining political stability within the state chapter.

Kente made the announcement while addressing the press in Jalingo, where he revealed that his decision was prompted by fervent appeals from various party stakeholders, including National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yiltwada. He emphasized that these pleas played a significant role in his choice to step down.

Kente categorically denied rumours that his exit was motivated by financial inducements, stating that no one has the capacity to buy him over, and reaffirming his loyalty to the APC as a party member. He asserted that his decision was driven by a desire to prioritize the party's success.
