Kebbi farmers return to fields as security improves in bandit-prone villages

Farmers in Kebbi State are returning to their farms as the government, in collaboration with security agencies, strengthens security in bandit-affected areas to ensure a smooth farming season.

The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami Gomo III, announced that a standard police mobile base will be established in the Zuru Emirate, with land already provided for the project.

The Emir credited Governor Nasir Idris for the improved security situation, which has allowed displaced communities to return home and resume farming activities.

In addition, the Emirate Council has intensified prayers for peace, with Imams and Reverend Fathers organizing special sessions alongside regular daily and weekly prayers.

The monarch praised Governor Idris for his determination, compassion, and selflessness in fostering peaceful coexistence and introducing economic ventures and self-empowerment programs for residents.

The Chief Imam of Zuru Central Mosque, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Tanko Liman, through the family spokesperson Abdullahi Idris Zuru, also commended the governor’s efforts in promoting harmony among the diverse ethnic communities in the emirate.

Governor Idris has further launched training programs for volunteer youths to support and complement security operations in the area.
