The deadline for his response elapsed on the penultimate Friday, coinciding with the Eid-el-Fitr public holiday, and the Kwankwasiyya Movement has now confirmed his resignation through a statement issued by its spokesperson, Habib Mohammed. The movement emphasized that this decision was made in the best interest of the people and to maintain stability in the state's governance.

According to the statement, the resignation should not be viewed as an admission of guilt, as the Deputy Governor maintains his innocence and believes his record in public service reflects his integrity and commitment. This development follows reported political differences between Governor Abba Yusuf and his deputy, which are linked to the governor's defection from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
