Kano Governor Yusuf pledges to tackle state's water shortage issue

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has pledged to tackle the state's water scarcity issues head-on, as evidenced by his recent inspection tour of all state water treatment plants, which aimed to assess their condition and explore solutions to the inadequate water supply affecting certain areas.

The visit, made on Tuesday, was part of the state government's efforts to provide the populace with adequate and safe drinking water, according to a statement by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.

Accompanied by commissioners and a representative of CGC, a Chinese company with extensive experience in addressing perennial water supply issues, Governor Yusuf began his inspection at the Tamburawa treatment plant, examining key components such as water treatment machines and distribution pipelines.

The inspection revealed issues hindering optimal performance, including leakages in water flows, malfunctioning machinery, and obsolete equipment, which Governor Yusuf vowed to address.

Speaking to the press after the inspection, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration's commitment to rehabilitating malfunctioning parts of the water treatment plants and improving their operations to ensure effective water supply to residents.

The State Government will collaborate with CGC to strengthen the delivery of clean, safe, and adequate potable water to residents across Kano State, as part of efforts to address the challenge, with this partnership forming a critical component of the administration's broader strategy.

This strategy aims to revitalize water infrastructure, improve public health, and ensure sustainable access to safe drinking water for all citizens, with Governor Yusuf emphasizing that the provision of clean and safe drinking water remains a top priority of his administration.

He assured that no effort will be spared in ensuring that every citizen has access to quality water, underscoring the importance of this basic necessity for the well-being of the state's residents.
