Kano drug dens targeted in raids, 56 individuals apprehended by NDLEA agents

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano has announced the arrest of 56 suspects following a three-day operation that took place from 6th to 8th February 2026, targeting multiple drug joints across the state.

This operation, which was carried out in areas such as Kofar Mata, Fagge, Kasuwar Rimi, Medile, Badawa, and Sabon Gari, resulted in the dislodging of illicit drug points both within and outside the Kano metropolis.

A statement issued by the command's spokesperson, Sadiq Muhammad, revealed that the operation was part of the ongoing "Operation Ramadan Mubarak" launched by the command, aiming to curb drug-related activities in the state.

According to Muhammad, the operation yielded various exhibits, including cannabis sativa, Exhol-5, diazepam, and pregabalin, among other controlled substances and associated paraphernalia, dealing a significant blow to local supply networks.

The seizures, Muhammad noted, underscore the command's determination to remove dangerous drugs from circulation, thereby restoring safety to neighborhoods adversely affected by drug-related activities.

As part of the operation, NDLEA operatives carried out coordinated raids on identified hotspots, sustaining pressure on criminal networks that have long operated in these communities.

The focused action, Muhammad explained, was aimed at disrupting distribution channels and restoring safety to neighborhoods, with officers recovering various exhibits, including cannabis sativa, Exhol-5, diazepam, and pregabalin, among other controlled substances and associated paraphernalia.

One notable arrest was that of 30-year-old Yunusa Yasin of the Badawa area, who was apprehended in connection with an alleged homicide that occurred five years ago and has been handed over to the police for further investigation and any subsequent legal action.

The command, Muhammad emphasized, remains committed to achieving a drug-free Kano in line with the agenda of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brg Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), and will continue to conduct targeted operations and engage with communities to protect public health and safety.

The NDLEA is urging members of the public to continue providing information about locations and individuals involved in illicit drug activities to assist the agency in sustaining gains and ensuring the safety of all communities, according to Muhammad.
