Kano Deputy Governor Explains Decision to Step Down

The Kano State Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has submitted his resignation, citing a commitment to responsibility and statesmanship as the driving force behind his decision, rather than any acknowledgment of wrongdoing.

Gwarzo's resignation was formalized in a letter addressed to Governor Abba Yusuf, which was subsequently made available to the press, and in it, he expressed his desire to relinquish his position voluntarily, thereby allowing the government and the state to progress unencumbered by distractions.

As outlined in his resignation letter, Gwarzo declared, "I, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, hereby tender my voluntary resignation from office, with effect from 27th March 2026, pursuant to Section 306 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).

This decision, according to Gwarzo, was the result of meticulous deliberations and introspection, guided by his dedication to the well-being, stability, and overall interests of the people of Kano State.

Gwarzo further elaborated that his resignation was motivated by a desire to permit the government and the state to move forward without unnecessary obstacles, driven by a sense of responsibility and statesmanship.
