Kaduna assault: Police Chief Disu sends in Deputy Inspector General, abducted individuals freed

In a swift response to the recent attack in Ariko Village near Gurara Dam, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has instructed Deputy Inspector-General of Police Shehu Umar Nadada to proceed to Kaduna State.

This development was made public by Force Public Relations Officer DCP Anthony Placid on Monday, who disclosed that the attack resulted in the loss of five lives and the abduction of approximately fourteen others.

According to DCP Placid, the attack occurred on 5 April 2026, when armed bandits launched a brutal assault on ECWA and Catholic Churches in the community, firing shots indiscriminately.

The IGP's directive for immediate operational intervention was promptly carried out, with DIG Operations Shehu Umar Nadada deployed to the scene to assess the situation and oversee security efforts.

DIG Nadada, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services, successfully led a team that rescued seven of the kidnapped victims during the operation.

The rescued victims were subsequently taken to Katari Hospital, where they received medical care and are currently in stable condition, awaiting reunion with their families.

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has reaffirmed that ongoing operations are focused on securing the release of the remaining abducted victims and apprehending those responsible for the attack.
