Joining the police force comes at no cost; be cautious of fraudulent schemes, warns PSC

The Police Service Commission reaffirmed on Saturday that joining the Nigeria Police Force is completely cost-free, warning prospective recruits to be cautious of fraudulent schemes and financial exploitation.
nThe commission, in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force, has set aside April 28 to April 30 for a written exam for individuals seeking to enlist as constables, covering both general duty and specialist roles.
nThis examination will take place at designated locations across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
nIn Lagos, the exam will be held at the Police College in Ikeja, as announced by SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command.
nMr Fatai Tijani, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, urged all eligible candidates to follow the guidelines strictly, arrive promptly at their designated venues, and maintain orderly behavior throughout the process.
nAdebisi emphasized that the Police Service Commission has a zero-tolerance policy towards fraud in the recruitment process, warning that anyone engaging in such activities will face legal consequences.
nOnly candidates who successfully completed the physical and credentials screening will be allowed to take the exam, according to Adebisi.
nQualified applicants must visit the official recruitment portal between April 24 to print their examination invitation cards, which will specify their date, time, and venue.
nAdebisi outlined the required items for the exam, including a pen, a National Identification Number slip from the National Identity Management Commission with a clear photograph, and a printed examination invitation card.
nCandidates are expected to wear white shorts, white T-shirts, and white canvas shoes to the examination, as instructed by Adebisi.
