Jilli Incident: Medical Facility in Borno Sounds Warning Over Severe Blood Supply Crisis

Shehu Muhammad, the Medical Director of the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, has sounded the alarm on a critical blood shortage, triggered by the influx of victims from the recent air operations in Jilli village.

The hospital is facing an urgent need for blood donations to cope with the rising number of cases, with 21 persons already admitted for treatment following the incident on Sunday.

Many of these patients require immediate blood transfusions to survive, according to Muhammad, who emphasized that medical personnel are working tirelessly to stabilize the patients.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, the scarcity of blood supply poses a significant hurdle, with Muhammad stressing that donations are essential to address the crisis.

Muhammad appealed to the public, saying, "We need people to donate blood, as most of the victims brought in from Jilli need blood transfusion with immediate effect," in a bid to rally support for the hospital's depleted blood bank.

The hospital has issued a call to residents and voluntary donors to come forward and help replenish its blood bank, thereby supporting the ongoing emergency care efforts for the victims.
