JAMB guarantees timely release of UTME scores, regrets holdup

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB, has issued an apology for the delayed release of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, or UTME, results that took place on Friday, April 17, 2026.

A scheduled release of the second batch of 2026 UTME results was set for Saturday, but JAMB missed this deadline, prompting widespread frustration among candidates across the nation.

In a statement released on Sunday, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin explained that the delay was caused by the absence of the board's chief executive, who was attending to an official matter.

JAMB expressed sincere regret for the delay in releasing the results for the exam held on Friday, April 17, which was the second batch, as previously promised, and assured that the results would be available later that day, before nightfall.

The board's statement also offered heartfelt apologies to those who had waited up for the release, thanking them for their patience and understanding, after the chief executive's unavailability due to an important engagement.

A total of 632,788 results were made available in the earlier release of the first batch of results, which was for candidates who took the examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
