Israeli military reports hitting facility allegedly utilized by Iran for atomic weapons research

The Israeli military announced on Thursday that it had targeted a site in Iran, claiming it was being utilized by the Islamic republic to develop nuclear weapons, with the Israeli Air Force acting on precise intelligence from the IDF.

The military specified that the strike hit the "Taleghan compound", which was allegedly used by the regime to advance critical nuclear weapons development capabilities, and is likely referring to a facility in Parchin, southeast of Tehran.

The Institute for Science and International Security, a US-based think tank monitoring Iran's nuclear programme, has reported that the Islamic republic conducts covert military activities at this facility in Parchin.

The Israeli military stated that the regime had taken steps to rehabilitate the compound after it was struck in October 2024, and that the IDF had recently identified these efforts.

Earlier this month, the Israeli military announced a strike on an underground nuclear site in Iran, where scientists were allegedly developing a key component for nuclear weapons in secret.

The military explained that IDF intelligence had tracked the scientists' activities and located their new site, enabling a precise strike, and displayed a map showing the facility's location on the eastern outskirts of Tehran.

Israel and Western powers have long accused Iran of pursuing a nuclear weapon, a claim the Islamic republic has consistently denied.

On February 28, Israel and the United States launched a joint attack on Iran, aiming to remove the "existential threat" posed by Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile programme, according to Israel.

Israeli officials claim that Tehran has intensified efforts to acquire an atomic weapon since the end of the 12-day war in June, which was launched by Israel and included US bombings of three nuclear facilities, including an enrichment plant.
