Iran's Revolutionary Guard Explains Motive Behind Attack on American Military Base in the UAE

Iran's Revolutionary Guards announced on Friday that they had launched an attack on a US base in the UAE, which they claimed had served as a staging ground for a prior strike on an educational institution.

This retaliatory action came after a reported strike on a girls' elementary school in Minab county, southern Iran, resulted in the deaths of over 150 individuals, including students, according to Iranian authorities, on the preceding Saturday.

In a statement aired on state television, the Revolutionary Guards declared that "Al-Dhafra air base, belonging to American terrorists in the region, was targeted using drones and precision missiles."

Neither Israel nor the United States has assumed responsibility for the alleged attack, which occurred in close proximity to sites under the control of the Revolutionary Guards.

The Pentagon has initiated an investigation into the matter, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that the US would "not deliberately target a school."

An investigation conducted by The New York Times, concluded on Thursday, suggested that the US military was the "most likely to have carried out the strike."

The Times' analysis, which examined social media posts from the time of the attack, as well as photos and videos from witnesses, indicated that the school was hit simultaneously with nearby Revolutionary Guards' naval base sites.
