Iran's judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, denounced as "false news" the claims made by US President Donald Trump regarding the reversal of a decision to execute eight women in the Islamic republic, stating that these women were never actually facing the death penalty.

The judiciary's official website, Mizan Online, issued a statement on Wednesday, countering Trump's assertions and highlighting the discrepancy in his claims, which were made in a post just minutes prior.

The statement from Mizan Online expressed that "despite the claim from last night being exposed as a lie, Trump, just minutes ago in another post, claimed that the death sentences of eight protesting women who were supposed to be executed tonight in Iran have been cancelled, and thanked Iran!", further emphasizing the judiciary's stance on the matter.

The Iranian judiciary's response also criticized Trump, stating that "Trump's empty hand in the field has led him to fabricate achievements from false news", in reaction to the US president's remarks about the alleged execution plans and his call for Tehran to release the women to facilitate peace negotiations.
