Iran warns it will target American firms in the region if its oil and gas installations are attacked.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned on Saturday that Iran would target American companies in the region if its energy facilities are attacked in the US-Israeli war against the Islamic republic.

Araghchi's statement came after the US military struck Kharg Island on Friday, from which nearly all of Iran’s oil is exported, with President Donald Trump saying every military target had been “obliterated” but its energy facilities had been spared.

According to Araghchi, Iran's Armed Forces have already indicated that they would retaliate if the country's oil and energy infrastructure are attacked, with the Foreign Minister telling MS NOW that Iran “will attack any energy infrastructure in the region which belongs to an American company or an American company is a shareholder”.

Araghchi revealed that the US attacks on Kharg had used short-range rockets launched from two bases in the UAE, including one close to Dubai, which he deemed “absolutely unacceptable”.

The Foreign Minister expressed concern that the use of highly populated areas for launching such attacks is “very dangerous” and emphasized that Iran would retaliate while taking care to avoid attacking populated areas.

President Donald Trump had threatened on Friday to bomb oil infrastructure in Kharg if Iran does not allow free passage of crude through the choked Hormuz Strait.
