Iran reports more than 30 non-combatants slain in latest American strikes

The United States has launched a new series of strikes against Iran and reinstated a blockade of its ports, while Iran has targeted American allies in the Gulf and vowed to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed until the US ends its aggression.

Fatemeh Mohajerani, Iran's government spokesperson, stated on Wednesday that over 30 civilians were killed in recent US strikes on southern Iran, offering condolences to the victims' families and promising government support in a social media post on X.

The Iranian army reported that seven soldiers were killed and several others injured in a US strike on a ground force garrison in Bampur County, located in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, early on Wednesday.

According to the army, 13 missiles struck the military centre's barracks, guesthouse, and guard posts, causing significant damage.

The US has conducted multiple waves of strikes on Iran's southern regions in recent days, citing the goal of "degrading Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping" in the Strait of Hormuz as the reason for these operations.

In response, Iranian forces have targeted US bases and facilities in regional countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, using missiles and drones.

On Wednesday, the US Central Command announced that its forces had carried out another round of strikes against Iran, hitting dozens of military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian coastal areas.
