Iran detains two dozen individuals amid allegations of ties to Israeli interests

Iranian authorities have apprehended a minimum of 20 individuals in the country's northwest, citing suspicions of collaboration with Israel, as reported by local media on Sunday, amidst the ongoing Middle East conflict that has spanned over two weeks.

These arrests were conducted during operations targeting networks allegedly linked to Israel in the West Azerbaijan province, according to the Fars news agency, which quoted provincial prosecutor Hossein Majidi.

The Fars news agency further stated that the detained individuals were found to be transmitting sensitive information regarding military, law enforcement, and security locations to Israel, described as the "Zionist enemy".

As a result of the raids, 20 people were taken into custody and detained, as announced by the authorities.

A wave of arrests has swept across Iran, with hundreds of people being detained in recent days on suspicions of cooperating with Israel and the United States, according to reports from local media outlets.

The conflict initially erupted on February 28, triggered by US-Israeli strikes that resulted in the death of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, prompting a retaliatory response from Iran.
