INEC Reports 2.6 Million Nigerians Finalize Enrollment in 10th Week of CVR Phase II

A total of 2,657,784 Nigerians have successfully completed the registration process in the ongoing second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission. This information was disclosed in the commission's week 10 update, which was released on Tuesday and titled “Completed Online and Physical Registration as at March 13″.

The update revealed that 1,563,169 individuals completed their pre-registration online, while 1,094,615 people opted to register in person.

A state-by-state breakdown showed that Jigawa had the highest number of completed registrations, with 171,471, followed closely by Lagos with 154,565 and Kano with 136,073.

Anambra recorded the lowest number of completed registrations, with a total of 21,836.

In terms of gender, female registrants accounted for the majority, with 1,508,858 registrations, representing 57 per cent, while males made up 43 per cent, with 1,148,926 registrations.

The age group of 18 to 34 years dominated the registration exercise, with 1,813,082 registrants, which accounted for 68.22 per cent of the total.

Students represented the largest occupational group, with 640,826 registrations, making up 24.11 per cent, followed by those in business, with 540,376 registrations, representing 20.33 per cent.

A total of 37,687 Persons with Disabilities had also registered so far, according to the update.

The Independent National Electoral Commission noted that the current figure of 2.6 million was a preliminary total, pending data clean-up and the deployment of the Automated Biometric Identification System.

Registration in the Federal Capital Territory remained suspended, following the Area Council Election held on February 21, in compliance with Section 9 (6) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The electoral body encouraged eligible Nigerians who were yet to register to visit its official portals at https://cvr.inec.gov.ng or https://cvr.inecnigeria.org to begin the registration process.
