INEC launches application process for 2026 jobs; steps to register revealed

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched its recruitment drive for 2026, inviting eligible Nigerians to submit applications for various entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10, and 12.

As outlined in a recruitment notice on the commission's website, the online application portal is now open, having commenced on Monday, July 20, and will close on Monday, July 27.

The primary objective of this recruitment exercise is to bolster INEC's workforce and enhance its capabilities in critical areas such as electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics, and data management, ultimately supporting the commission's constitutional responsibilities.

To apply, prospective candidates must create an account on the recruitment portal, complete the application form, and upload all necessary documents, with the commission emphasizing that the entire recruitment process is free of charge.

INEC has also warned applicants against providing false information or submitting forged credentials, stressing that any candidate found guilty of such offenses will be disqualified and may face prosecution.

The available positions are categorized into three main groups, with the Professional Cadre comprising Grade Levels 09, 10, and 12, and featuring roles such as Accountant, Clinical Officer, Lawyer, ICT Officer, Engineer, and Quantity Surveyor.

Applicants for these positions must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, with some roles requiring a master's degree from a recognized institution, as well as relevant professional certifications and at least two years of post-qualification experience.

Candidates for the Administrative Officer II position on Grade Level 08 must possess a bachelor's degree, Higher National Diploma, or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities, or Sciences, along with an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other ICT applications.

For the Executive Officer position on Grade Level 07, applicants must hold a National Certificate in Education or equivalent qualification, demonstrating competence in computer operations, data management, communication, and organizational skills.

INEC has outlined specific general requirements for applicants, including presenting a valid certificate of state of origin, being certified physically and mentally fit by a government medical officer, and being no older than 35 years of age at the time of application.

Additional requirements include being of good character, having no criminal conviction, and demonstrating integrity, discipline, and commitment to public service, as well as being willing to serve in any part of the country.

To submit an application, interested candidates must visit the INEC recruitment portal at https://recruitment.inecnigeria.org/, create an applicant account, verify their email address, and log in to select their preferred cadre and vacancy.

Applicants must then upload all required documents, including a passport photograph, birth certificate or declaration of age, O'Level result, degree/HND/ND/NCE certificate, local government identification certificate, and NYSC certificate where applicable, before reviewing and submitting their completed application online.

The commission advises applicants to carefully choose their preferred vacancy, as selections cannot be changed after submission, and notes that only shortlisted candidates will be invited to proceed to the next phase of the recruitment exercise.
