‘In 2027, protect your votes’ – PDP tells supporters

The People Democratic Party, PDP, has urged it supporters to vote and stay behind to protect their votes during the 2027 general elections, stating that they shoud not give in to intimidation and the antics of people who are in to scuttle their chances.

The PDP national deputy chairman north, Mr Yusuf Nya Agirikwe, said this during the party’s Nasarawa State gubernatorial candidate’s campaign flag off ceremony, which took place at party secretariat in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital on Saturday.

He said: “I have come to establish it myself today, that PDP has the mandate of the people to rule them in this state.

“We can only actualize this if you will be able to vote and defend your votes, are you going to do it?

n

​”Are we going to do it?”

n

He commended the members and leaders of the party in the state for coming in their numbers to support the party, adding that they should ensure that their numbers translate to victory for their governorship candidate in Nasarawa, Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu.

“But what I have seen with my eyes, and many of my colleagues who are here, we will go and testify that the Nasarawa people are truly behind him. And whatever he is doing, he has your endorsement, he has your support.

“The only thing I am going to tell you is that from today, go and tell your friends, go and tell your friends that PDP is the winning party. Go out and bring your votes,” he added.

He, however, apologised on the absence of the national chairman of the party and it national leader, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking during the event, the governorship candidate of the party in theState, David Ombugadu said that he is dedicating the opportunity given to him to to be party flag bearer to the women, youths and leaders of Nasarawa State.

​”I want to sincerely thank God for your commitment and your sacrifice; everything you have done. You stood firm.

“We must protect our votes so that we can have a government that will represent the people.

n

“We can have a government that will enable our farmers to go to farms. So that we can have a government that will allow us to take advantage of the mineral resources that we have,” he said.

According to him, Nasarawa citizens should not be complaining of poverty; having been blessed with abundant agricultural resources and huge mineral deposits.

He promised that if given the mandate, he will ensure that the healthcare needs of poor and vulnerable would be his priority,

“But through my leadership, we will make sure that all pregnant women will go to the hospital and there will be drugs. All farm owners, you will go to farms and you will sleep in your farms.

n

​”I want to assure you that under my watch, everybody in Nasarawa State will matter.”

He added that his team has unveiled a 5-year manifesto for Nasarawa State, where issues of security as well as women capital developmentwill take a centre stage.

He appreciated the national leadership of the party for their support and pledged his total support, adding that he worked in tandem with the dictate of the party’s leadership.

“Thank you, our national leader. We want to affirm today, and now, that we — the entire Nasarawa State – stands for Rainbow Coalition.

“We are all united in support of our national leader. We are waiting for our national leader to give us direction. Wherever he goes, we will go.”
