African Democratic Congress (ADC) leaders, including its National Chairman David Mark, a former Senate President, have touched down in Kano State, signaling a major shift in the state's political landscape as former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso prepares to defect from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), where he was the 2023 presidential candidate.
nThe high-profile delegation, which includes Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Dino Melaye, and John Odigie-Oyegun, was greeted at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport by Aminu Gwarzo, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State.
nKwankwaso's impending move to the ADC, set to take place in the coming days, is expected to be accompanied by several key allies, including Gwarzo, Rufa’i Hanga, the Senator representing Kano Central, and Hashim Dungurawa, the Kano State Chairman of the NNPP.
nThis planned defection is viewed as a pivotal moment in Kano State's politics, one that could significantly alter the landscape ahead of future elections.
