‘I Explain the Lengthy Motorcade for My Homecoming’ – Fire Service Chief

The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has shed light on the extensive length of his homecoming ceremony convoy, attributing it to the presence of high-ranking officials, including Deputy Controllers-General and Assistant Controllers-General.

This explanation comes on the heels of a social media post showcasing Adeyemi's visit to his home state, which included courtesy calls and a grand reception, and highlighted the "royal blessings" he received, as well as stakeholders' praise for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and calls for enhanced fire safety measures.

A social media post detailing Adeyemi's visit was later removed, having sparked reactions due to the large number of vehicles, motorbikes, and crowd involved in the procession.

In response to these concerns, the Fire Service issued a statement on Tuesday, aiming to clarify the circumstances surrounding the perceived lengthy convoy associated with the Controller General.

The statement, signed by P. O. Abraham, the National PRO/ Head of Corporate Services, emphasized that Adeyemi travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle, and essential security support, in an effort to address concerns about the convoy's size.

According to the statement, the additional vehicles present were those of Deputy Controllers General, Assistant Controllers General, and other senior officers who attended the event, and their presence was a deliberate decision to ensure adequate coordination and security coverage.

The Federal Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and responsible public engagement, assuring Nigerians that its operations and movements are guided by necessity, safety considerations, and best practices.
