I defected to APC to guarantee Tinubu's success in the 2027 election – Aduda

Philip Aduda, a former Senator, has disclosed that his decision to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is aimed at supporting the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Aduda made this revelation on Tuesday while speaking with journalists at the APC national secretariat, following a meeting with the party's National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.

Prior to his meeting with Yilwatda, Aduda had submitted a letter to the PDP Chairman of Karu Ward in Abuja, announcing his resignation from the party, effective immediately.

In the letter, Aduda stated, "I write to formally notify you of my resignation as a member of the PDP with immediate effect due to the crisis in the party," and expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities he had to serve in various elective positions.

At the APC national secretariat, Aduda expressed confidence in the party's ability to secure victory in 2027, saying, "I'm sure we'll coast to victory by the special grace of God, it will not be anything difficult."

He drew on the party's past success, citing the last FCT Area Council elections, where they won five out of six area councils, and predicted that they would win all six in the future, "by the special grace of God."

Aduda reassured that they would deliver a win for the president in 2027, stating, "And by the special grace of God, we will deliver for the president in 2027."

Prof. Yilwatda welcomed Aduda to the APC, noting that all progressives in Nigeria were aligning with the party, which he described as the largest forum of progressives in the country.

Yilwatda attributed the party's appeal to its progressive nature and the programmes implemented by the Tinubu-led administration, saying, "every progressive in Nigeria is queuing behind us" due to the Renew Hope agenda.

The APC national chairman highlighted the innovative projects being undertaken by the administration, saying that most of these initiatives were unprecedented and that the party was pleased to have Aduda on board.
