Husband sets record straight: tears not shed over Judy Austin

Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of actress Judy Austin, has clarified that the emotional moment that saw him break down during a recent podcast interview had nothing to do with his ex-wife.

Obasi made the clarification in a video shared on Wednesday, after a clip from his appearance on the HonestBunch podcast went viral.

During the interview, Obasi became emotional while discussing the collapse of his marriage and allegations involving actor Yul Edochie. The moment drew widespread reactions after he was seen wiping tears from his eyes with a handkerchief.

Addressing the incident, Obasi apologised to viewers for becoming emotional, explaining that painful memories triggered his reaction.

“I want to use this opportunity to apologise for crying on that podcast; it was not my fault. I was emotional; I didn’t travel from Onitsha to Lagos to cry. Forgive me and bear with me; something triggered me,” he said.

The businessman also dismissed claims that he broke down because of Judy Austin, insisting that online reports suggesting so were false.

According to him, he is no longer concerned about his former relationship and is focused on a more personal issue.

“I also want the world to know I am not crying over a woman; I am only crying over my children,” Obasi stated.

He explained that his emotional outburst stemmed from his desire to have a closer relationship with his children.

Obasi also took aim at critics who mocked him over the handkerchief he used during the podcast, urging Nigerians to pay attention to the message rather than the object in his hand.

“Nigerian men should be careful. Imagine your fellow man comes out crying, saying he wants to see his children; you left the matter, and you were talking about his handkerchief; why not focus on what I am saying?” he said.
