The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), Mr Abayomi Hunye, has said that he was not sacked by the state government.

He dismissed reports about his alleged sack, clarifying that he is currently on a compulsory leave, pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.

Hunye said he would set the records straight whenever he appears before the Ogun State House of Assembly.

The hearing, originally scheduled for yesterday, has been moved to Monday, March 16.

He emphasised that the circumstance has been willfully misrepresented by some media outlets as a termination of his appointment.

He said: “I was not sacked. I was directed to proceed on leave to allow for an investigation into allegations leveled against me. The letter is clear on this; any claim to the contrary is a distortion of the facts.”

Also, Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya denied accusations leveled against him by Members of the Association of Waste Management Vendors and Recyclers of Ogun State that he is the brain behind the factional associations.

He said: ” I don’t know any Association, I don’t deal with them and I’m not working in OGWAMA. Those allegations are in their own digression and i have nothing to do with that. If anyone has proof for that, they can bring it out.”
