Honourable Kia Political Family Formally Identifies with Silga Ward 13 APC Stakeholders Ahead of Gov

Yenagoa, Bayelsa State — November 2, 2025: It was a moment of joy and reconciliation in Opuama Kingdom, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, as individuals who once stood on opposing political divides came together in unity for the collective interest of their community. Honourable Kia Ebidoughebofa Nigeria, accompanied by over sixty (60) members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), paid a visit to Honourable Joseph Ede Alakere, the Leader of Southern Ijaw Ward 13 All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside the Ward 13 APC Chairman, Chief Crowther Opumie, and other prominent stakeholders of the party.

The meeting was convened to formally notify the Southern Ijaw Ward 13 APC family of their decision to join the APC, in line with the directive of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, ahead of his anticipated official defection.

In his address, Honourable Kia Ebidoughebofa Nigeria said:

“Myself, my political family, and the PDP structure in Opuama Kingdom have officially come to identify with the APC family in Ward 13. This decision is in accordance with the directive of our principal, the Governor. I must commend you all, especially our Ward Leader, Honourable Joseph Alakere, for standing firm over the years. You truly gave us a tough time during and after elections, but now is the time to work together. Let us forgive each other for any past misunderstandings in the course of defending our political interests.”

Honourable Kia also used the occasion to reconcile individuals who had long been divided over party differences, stressing that political maturity means placing the interest of Opuama Kingdom above personal grievances.

In his response, Honourable Joseph Ede Alakere, Leader of the APC in Southern Ijaw Ward 13, expressed appreciation to Honourable Kia and his political family for identifying with the APC.

“I want to thank you, my elder brother, for joining forces with us. I assure you that we shall work together for the collective progress of our great party. Our foremost goal is to ensure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027,” he said.

Also speaking, the Ward 13 APC Chairman, Chief Crowther Opumie, commended Honourable Kia for his humility and foresight in leading such a unifying step.

“Today’s gathering is historic because it shows that politics should not divide us as a people. Honourable Kia has demonstrated true leadership by putting Opuama’s unity above personal or party interest. Together, we will make Ward 13 stronger and more vibrant within the APC family,” Chief Opumie stated.

Honourable Alakere further urged APC members to let go of the past and warmly welcome the new entrants from the PDP, dismissing speculations that the defectors intend to take over the party structure. He emphasized that unity, tolerance, and collaboration remain the foundation for progress in Ward 13 and Bayelsa State at large.
