Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Culture, Mourns Loss of Mother

A personal loss has befallen Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, with the passing of her mother, Hajiya Fatima Binta Ladi Musa Musawa, a woman renowned for her unwavering faith, humility, and devotion to her family.

Hajiya Fatima's life came to a close on June 13, 2026, following a brief illness, as announced in a statement issued on Saturday, marking the end of a life that began on August 15, 1955, in Gusau.

Her birthplace, Gusau, was just the starting point for a life that would earn her widespread respect for her admirable qualities, a testament to the values she upheld until her passing.

Funeral prayers, known as Jana'iza, were conducted at the National Mosque on Saturday, in accordance with Islamic customs, and subsequently, she was laid to rest at Gudu Cemetery, bringing closure to the formalities surrounding her death.

Hajiya Fatima is survived by six children, among them Zainab Musawa, Hadiza Ali, and Minister Hannatu Musawa, who are now left to navigate life without their matriarch.

The Minister, along with the staff of the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, and the Musawa family, have expressed gratitude for the outpouring of condolences and prayers from the Federal Government, industry stakeholders, and well-wishers.

Their prayers are for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased the highest paradise, Al-Jannah Firdaus, and to bestow upon the family the strength to cope with their loss, as they recite the poignant phrase, Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un, a reminder that all souls belong to and return to Allah.
