Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, GTCO, has achieved a notable increase in interest income, reaching N1.622 trillion for the audited financial year ended December 31, 2025, which represents a 22.8% rise from the N1.321 trillion recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.

n

The company has declared a dividend of N12.76 per share for the financial year 2025, while its results, released to the Nigerian Exchange NGX and London Stock Exchange, show that Profit Before Tax, PBT, declined to N1.23 trillion from N1.266 trillion in 2024.

n

The company's performance is seen as reaffirming its capacity to generate sustainable earnings, building on the momentum from 2024, with the Group's 2025 profit after tax coming in at N865.75 billion, compared to N1.02 trillion recorded in 2024.

n

The profit after tax reflects the impact of recent fiscal policy adjustments to the taxation of investment securities, notably withholding tax on short-term instruments, but underlying earnings remain robust when normalized for this effect, driven by growth in core operating income.

n

The Group maintains a well-structured, healthy, and diversified balance sheet across all jurisdictions where it operates a Banking franchise, as well as its Payments, Pension, and Funds Management business verticals, with total assets and shareholders’ funds closing at N17.8 trillion and N3.4 trillion, respectively.

n

The Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) remained very robust, closing at 43.8%, while asset quality improved, as evidenced by IFRS 9 Stage 3 Loans, which closed at 3.4% and 5.0% at the Bank and Group level in FY-2025, compared to 3.5% and 5.2% in December 2024.

n

The Cost of Risk (COR) also improved to 2.2% from 4.9% in December 2024, and the Group’s loan book (net) grew by 12.4% from N2.79 trillion as of December 2024 to N3.13 trillion in December 2025.

n

Similarly, deposit liabilities increased by 23.8% from N10.40 trillion to N12.87 trillion during the same period, demonstrating the company's ability to attract and retain deposits.

n

Commenting on the results, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, Mr. Segun Agbaje, stated that the 2025 result underscores the resilience and depth of the company's earnings capacity.

n

Mr. Agbaje further noted that following a record 2024, which included significant fair value gains, the company's focus has been on strengthening the sustainability of its earnings by driving growth across its core banking and ecosystem businesses.

n

According to Mr. Agbaje, the strength of the underlying earnings, despite a stronger Naira and tighter regulatory parameters, reflects the quality of the franchise and the discipline with which the company executes its strategy.

n

He emphasized that this strong core earnings performance underpins the company's capacity to sustain and grow shareholder returns, with the record dividend payout this year reflecting not only current profitability but also confidence in the Group’s long-term earnings potential.

n

Looking ahead, Mr. Agbaje stated that the company remains focused on scaling its ecosystem, driving innovation across its financial services platform, and delivering consistent, high-quality earnings that support superior value creation for shareholders.
