Governor Wike directs the teardown of a residential complex constructed on Guzape's designated open space

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has instructed the demolition of an estate built without authorization on a designated green area in Guzape, Abuja, following a routine inspection of ongoing projects in the city on Monday.

This directive was issued after Wike discovered that the plot, initially allocated for Park and Recreation, had been converted into a residential area without obtaining the necessary approval.

Wike stated that the FCT Administration will not only demolish the estate but also revoke the allocation, emphasizing the need to strictly enforce planning regulations in accordance with the Abuja Master Plan.

The Minister warned that the government will not condone deliberate violations of land-use approvals, citing the tendency of developers to flout planning laws in anticipation of government officials leaving office.

Wike expressed concern that some developers exploit bureaucratic loopholes and collude with government insiders to secure approvals for unauthorized projects, but assured that this would not deter the Administration from taking action.

During his inspection, Wike assessed the progress of major projects slated for inauguration to mark President Bola Tinubu's third year in office, with the aim of evaluating their readiness for completion.

Regarding the road network connecting Renewed Hope City in Karsana to Kubwa, Wike noted significant progress and expressed optimism about its potential for inauguration.

He also inspected the Arteria Road N16, which links Ring Road II to Ring Road III, and commended the quality of work as "impressive", while expressing confidence that the project would be completed by the end of May.

Additionally, Wike inspected the Airport Road to Kuje Highway and the Kuje Road to Gwagwalada, expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work achieved so far.

Wike emphasized that road construction remains a crucial component of the Administration's transportation strategy for the FCT, highlighting the importance of a well-connected road network for efficient transportation.

The Minister reaffirmed the Administration's commitment to enforcing planning regulations while delivering infrastructure that enhances mobility and connects communities across the FCT.
