Gov Oborevwori Urged to Sack Delta Commissioner Ebikeme Clark Over Misappropriation of Burial Funds, Underperformance, Asset Theft, Unlawful Arrest of His Uncle.

Concerned members in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State have called on the governor of Delta State, His Excellency Sheriff Oborevwori to sack the commissioner for Riverine Infrastructural Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark Over what they described as Misappropriation of Burial Funds of his late father, asset manipulation, underperformance and unlawful arrest of his uncle Prof. CC Clark.

It was gathered that there has been a serious in-fighting going on in the family of the late Ijaw National Leader over asset theft and other manipulative tendencies of Ebikeme.

Recall, Chief EK Clark died on 17th February, 2025, in Abuja, and was buried on 13th May, 2025, in his hometown, Kiagbodo, Delta State. It was learnt that since the death of Chief Clark, some of his children had carried themselves about in disgraceful manners, least expected.

Our investigations revealed that, while Mr. Pen Clark, the senior son, who carried himself all over the place as 'Mr. First Son' knows almost nothing, as he lived all his life in the UK, some 49 odd years, before coming to Nigeria, a few months to his father's death, the second son, Mr. Ebikeme Clark, a serving commissioner in Delta State, is a terrible case, good only for nothing.

The discreet investigation further revealed that this inactive and underperforming commissioner goes about abusing his office to intimidate and harass his uncle, Prof. CC Clark, who is head of family, and in complete disregard for family values for greed.

In the press statement signed by Mr Seikemieghan Kelly on behalf of the aggrieved people of Burutu accused Ebikeme and his two siblings to have allegedly embezzled several of millions naira, dollars, and pounds of burial donations to their personal pockets, citing that the national leader's burial was almost reduced to an ordinary man's funeral because they syphoned funds meant for the burial.

According to the statement, "it has come to light that Mr. Ebikeme Clark, along with his other two siblings (including a female) has been persistently harassing their uncle, who is both the head of the family and One of the chief executors of their late father’s Will. This troubling behavior stems from a simple and legitimate request made by their uncle, that an account of how the burial funds were expended be given", it added. The angry concerned members in the LGA said Ebikeme instead of honoring the humble request for transparency, but have resorted to distractions and frivolous accusations, and campaign of calumny by abusing his office, and using his office as commissioner, in using the Police to harass his uncle, Prof. Clark, adding that this had been creating unnecessary tension within the family.

The statement, added that such harassment and disregard for the role of the family head and executor of the family will, only complicate matters and undermine the dignity of their late father’s memory, who had always sued for peace and unity among his family members before his demise.

"This single action of harassing his uncle with the Police is an unnecessary and irresponsible distraction, and disgrace to the family and the entire Ijaw Nation.

"It's on record how the Ijaw Nation rallied behind the Delta and the Bayelsa state governments and PANDEF, as well as other well-meaning personalities, at the last minute, to save the near disgraceful burial ceremony of our late Icon and father, they added.

"These three characters are not after their father's legacies, but on the voyage of embezzlement in order to destroy their father's legacies. They should allow the soul of their father late Icon to rest in peace",the statement noted.

They called on the governor of the state to expedite actions to sack Ebikeme Clark from his commissioner position for being a disgrace to the Delta State government, adding that the governor should not encourage liability and harbor underperforming appointees like Ebikeme in his government as such people could paint his administration black.
