Ojaigho Prosper, a social media personality known as GehGeh, has spoken out against TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, for choosing to marry Elizabeth Aminata, known as Jarvis, citing concerns over the decision.
GehGeh's criticism comes after Peller announced on Sunday that he had completed traditional marriage rites by paying Jarvis' bride price during a family introduction ceremony, which he shared on Instagram along with a video from the event.
In the Instagram post, Peller stated, "Today, I proudly paid the bride price of the woman I love," sparking a reaction from GehGeh, who questioned whether financial stability alone was a sufficient reason to get married.
GehGeh argued on his X handle that emotional and mental preparedness should also be taken into account, writing, "Y'all are justifying his act with 'he has the money allow him', but y'all failed to ask yourself if he's ready mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually."
He further emphasized that financial success is not the only consideration, saying, "Everything isn't all about the money," as he expressed disappointment that Peller proceeded with the marriage despite his advice.
GehGeh felt that Peller, being young, had more personal growth ahead of him, stating, "You still growing as a child why get married now eehn.. I tried my possible best to help you but you failed to listen to me.. Peller don go marry Jarvis.. upon all my advice this boy still pour spit for my face."
GehGeh suggested that those supporting Peller's decision due to his financial stability should reflect on whether they would encourage a younger family member to get married at a similar age, prompting a reevaluation of their stance.
The family introduction ceremony took place just weeks after Peller proposed to Jarvis at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana, where she accepted his proposal, marking a significant step in their relationship.
