Gbonse Foundation Spreads Empowerment Message to Female Traders at Ikotun Marketplace

The Gbonse Foundation for Economic Development has conducted a medical outreach program at Ikotun market in Lagos, targeting traders, particularly women, to enhance their health management and business growth as they care for their families.

This initiative took place under rainy conditions on Saturday, with a medical doctor and nurses administering blood sugar tests, blood pressure checks, and offering medical advice to participants.

Mrs Helen Olaniyan, founder and CEO of the foundation, emphasized the organization's commitment to improving the lives of underserved individuals through financial empowerment, microfinance initiatives, social support, and accessible healthcare services.

Olaniyan stated that the outreach program aims to provide basic health checks, medical advice, and guidance to those who may not have regular access to medical care, highlighting the importance of early detection and proper health guidance in protecting one's well-being.

She encouraged all attendees to take advantage of the free screenings and consultations offered, noting the significant difference that early detection and proper health guidance can make in maintaining overall health.

Dr Samuel Obia discussed hypertension, warning that it is a silent killer that can also cause kidney disease, and emphasized the importance of regular checks in controlling the condition, which affects both young and old individuals.

Babaloja General of Igando/Ikotun LCDA, Mahmood Olorunfemi, participated in the outreach program and expressed gratitude to the foundation for their initiative, praising their long-standing commitment to helping people in need.

According to Olorunfemi, the foundation has a proven track record of providing assistance, and their efforts are genuinely aimed at supporting the community, prompting him to say "May God bless you" in appreciation of their work.

Susan Aigbe, a staff member of the organization, outlined the objectives of Gbonse Foundation, which include promoting economic empowerment, improving access to healthcare, and providing social assistance to individuals and families with limited resources.

Aigbe explained that the foundation's goal is to help families improve their living conditions and reduce poverty within their communities by supporting small businesses, organizing free medical checkups, and implementing community support programs that address the needs of vulnerable groups.

She urged the women to utilize the foundation's low-interest rates to access loans and grow their businesses, highlighting the potential benefits of this support.

The outreach program drew participation from at least 70 traders, who also received branded shirts from the foundation as a gesture of appreciation for their involvement.
