FUTA Teaching Hospital Rejects Claims of Union Disputes, Pledges Smooth Handover for Employees

By Dayo Johnson, Akure
nThe management of the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital (FUTA Teaching Hospital), Akure, has dismissed allegations of irregularities in the transition of its workforce to the federal system, assuring staff that the process is being conducted fairly and in accordance with established regulations.
nIn a statement issued by the hospital’s Head of Public Relations, Tope Fayehun, management described a recent communiqué by organised labour in Ondo State as “false, misleading, unsubstantiated and capable of creating unnecessary tension.”
nAccording to the statement, the hospital has complied fully with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) guiding its transition from Ondo State to Federal Government ownership and challenged labour leaders to identify any aspect of the agreement allegedly breached.
n“Allegations of such magnitude must be supported by verifiable facts and credible evidence rather than mere accusations,” the statement said.
nThe management also dismissed claims of selective staff capture and the alleged secret inclusion of non-staff members in the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), describing the allegations as entirely unfounded.
nIt maintained that the IPPIS exercise was conducted transparently and in line with approved Federal Government procedures.
n“These allegations have not been supported by any credible evidence and appear designed to misinform the public and erode confidence in an otherwise transparent administrative process,” Fayehun said.
nThe hospital stressed that the integration of staff into the federal payroll is an administrative process handled through established government channels and cannot be resolved through intimidation, disruption of hospital activities or industrial actions capable of jeopardising healthcare services.
nManagement also expressed concern over recent actions by some labour leaders, including disruptions to clinical services, warning that such actions could endanger patients.
n“The welfare of patients must remain paramount at all times,” the statement added.
nWhile reaffirming its commitment to addressing legitimate staff concerns, the hospital urged organised labour to embrace constructive dialogue, mutual respect and due process rather than actions capable of disrupting healthcare delivery or creating public anxiety.
nThe management further alleged that there were indications that vested interests, driven by political considerations and personal agendas, might be attempting to influence organised labour to pursue objectives that do not reflect the collective interests of workers.
nFayehun appealed to staff, patients and the public to disregard what he described as misleading allegations and assured them that hospital services remain fully operational.
n“Management pledges to continue working with all relevant Federal Government agencies to ensure that every eligible employee receives fair treatment in accordance with extant regulations and the agreed transition framework,” he said.
