FRSC denies 50 recruitment slots for Gombe lawmaker

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has dismissed as misleading a viral social media publication alleging that the member representing Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency of Gombe State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ali Isah, secured 50 recruitment slots for his constituents.

The Corps, in a statement dated September 16, 2026, signed by its Corps Public Education Officer, Mr Osondu Ohaeri, and obtained by our correspondent in Gombe on Friday, said no appointment letter had been issued to any candidate under its ongoing 2026 recruitment exercise.

The clarification followed the circulation of a social media publication purportedly linking the lawmaker to the allocation of 50 FRSC recruitment slots to his constituents.

According to the FRSC, candidates who have successfully passed various stages of the screening and interview processes have only been invited to designated training schools and the FRSC Academy for further stages of the exercise.

The Corps stressed that such invitations should not be interpreted as appointment letters.

It explained that candidates must still undergo and successfully complete prescribed training, screening, regimentation and other mandatory processes before they can be considered for appointment.

The statement read: “Only candidates who satisfactorily complete all the required stages and emerge without any disqualifying record will be considered for appointment in accordance with established procedures.”

The FRSC further maintained that no political office holder, individual, group or external interest has the authority to confer appointments into the Corps outside its established recruitment framework.

It said the ongoing recruitment exercise, under the leadership of Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, mni, was being conducted in accordance with the principles of merit, transparency, due process and institutional integrity.

The Corps urged applicants and members of the public to disregard unverified claims suggesting that recruitment slots had been allocated to particular individuals, constituencies or political interests.

It also warned that such claims could expose unsuspecting applicants to fraudsters who might exploit the perception that FRSC appointments could be secured through political influence, payment or personal connections.

The Corps said it would continue to provide official information on the recruitment exercise through its authorised communication channels, advising applicants to rely only on verified information from the FRSC.

It reiterated that the 2026 recruitment exercise remained subject to the completion of all statutory and administrative procedures, stressing that no candidate should regard himself or herself as an FRSC appointee until the process was concluded and a formal appointment communicated by the appropriate authority.

The FRSC’s position is that no appointment has been issued under the 2026 recruitment exercise and that candidates must complete all prescribed stages before any formal appointment can be made.
