A source with knowledge of the matter revealed to AFP on Friday that Formula One races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will likely be cancelled or rescheduled due to the escalating Middle East war. The source, who chose to remain anonymous, stated that the F1 events in these countries will not take place as initially scheduled.

The Formula One races in Bahrain, set for April 10-12, and Saudi Arabia, scheduled for the following week, are expected to be postponed or cancelled, according to the source. The source indicated that an official announcement regarding the cancellation or postponement of these events will be made soon.

The Gulf region has faced intense Iranian drone and missile attacks over the past two weeks, with Bahrain being frequently targeted. The tiny nation, located close to Iran, has suffered attacks on its buildings, refinery, and large US base.

Saudi Arabia has also been hit by numerous strikes, some of which have targeted its crucial oil infrastructure, making it a challenging situation for the world's largest crude exporter. The attacks have raised concerns about the safety and security of the region.

Kimi Antonelli, who secured pole position for the Chinese Grand Prix, was approached by AFP in Shanghai and asked about the potential cancellation of the Middle East races.
