Former electoral chief Jega mourns the loss of his spouse, Hadiza
The wife of Prof. Attahiru Jega, former Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, and ex-Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has sadly passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
nA statement released on the official social media page of Bayero University conveyed the news, expressing resignation to the will of Allah with the words "Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un" as they announced the demise of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega.
nThe university revealed that the Janazah prayer for the deceased would be held immediately after Zuhr at the National Mosque in Abuja on Sunday, 5th April 2026, in accordance with Islamic tradition.
nBayero University offered prayers for the departed soul, seeking divine mercy and forgiveness, as they wished for her to be granted Aljannatul Firdaus, and for her family to be blessed with the strength and patience to cope with their loss, concluding with "Ameen".
