Forces thwart militant assaults on Azir Bridge, Banki – Armed Services

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully defended their military positions at Azir Bridge and Banki in Borno against terrorist attacks.

Lt Col Sani Uba, the media information officer of Operation Hadin Kai, issued a statement on Friday in Maiduguri, revealing the details of the thwarted attacks.

The terrorist assaults occurred in the early hours of Friday, with large numbers of attackers attempting to overrun the troops' locations, according to Uba.

Uba specified that the first attack took place at approximately 2 a.m. at Azir Bridge in Sector 2, while the second assault was launched at about 3.40 a.m. at the military base in Banki in Sector 1.

On March 13, 2026, the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled the coordinated terrorist attacks on their positions at Azir Bridge and Banki, as stated by Uba.

The terrorists were met with immediate and overwhelming resistance from the troops, who demonstrated superior tactical awareness and combat readiness, Uba added.

The troops launched well-coordinated spoiling attacks, disrupting the terrorists' assault formations, and their efforts were further reinforced by effective close air support from the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.

According to Uba, the failed attacks contradicted the misleading propaganda and false reports circulating on some online media platforms.

The troops remain firmly in control of the locations, dominating the operational environment with high morale, decisive firepower, and sustained offensive action against terrorist elements, Uba noted.

Uba reassured the public that the Joint Task Force remains resolute in defeating terrorist threats across the theatre of operations.
