Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has put to rest speculation about potentially handing over the church's leadership to one of his biological children, emphasizing that the ministry is Jesus Christ's, not any individual's or family's possession.

Speculation about the church's future leadership had been circulating, prompting Kumuyi to address the issue during a church service, where he noted that some people had wondered if he would eventually pass the leadership to one of his children.

According to Kumuyi, the notion that he would transfer the church's leadership to a family member was misguided, as the church is not a personal asset that can be inherited by relatives.

Kumuyi stressed that God's will does not always involve passing leadership to one's child, and that some individuals fail to grasp that leadership in the kingdom is not a family matter, saying "My friend, it is not always the will of God that you pass it to your son."

Kumuyi noted that many people had been speculating about whether he would hand over the church to one of his sons, with some even inquiring about the whereabouts of his children, but he maintained that God would ultimately choose the church's leader.

The Deeper Life founder reiterated that the church belongs to Jesus Christ and should be led according to God's direction, rather than family succession, stating "God will choose, and God will tell who is to have the kingdom."

Kumuyi cited biblical examples to support his stance, pointing out that key figures in the early church, such as Peter, Paul, and John, did not transfer leadership to their children.

Specifically, Kumuyi mentioned that "Peter did not hand over the church to his son," and that "Paul did not have any son or wife, but Paul did not hand over the church to his son," and similarly, "John did not hand over the church to his son."
