Footage emerges of teenager infiltrating famous people's WhatsApp accounts, peddling explicit material to peers in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has shed light on a shocking case in which a 17-year-old boy allegedly compromised the WhatsApp accounts of celebrities and sold explicit content to his fellow students.

This revelation came to the fore during a security awareness programme, where comedian Otaghware Onodjayeke, also known as I Go Save, engaged in a conversation with the Divisional Police Officer of Ugborikoko Division, Uvwie Local Government Area, Temi Agbede-Zuokumor.

Agbede-Zuokumor explained that the case was brought to light after officers conducted a routine search of a student's phone, which initially sparked suspicion and prompted further investigation.

According to Agbede-Zuokumor, the student's mother initially claimed that the phone belonged to her daughter, but inconsistencies in her story raised red flags and led officers to probe deeper.

Agbede-Zuokumor recounted her conversation with the mother, saying, "The woman looked very modest, so I asked her if she was from Deeper Life, and when she said no, I asked why her son took a phone to school, and she claimed it belonged to his sister."

She added that her suspicions were further triggered, prompting her to inspect the phone, and upon doing so, officers discovered that all the content on the device belonged to the boy.

The phone was found to contain over 80 foreign contacts, including Australian numbers, as well as a large volume of explicit materials, with Agbede-Zuokumor noting, "We saw several foreign numbers, over 80 Australian lines, and the phone was filled with pornographic content."

It was also discovered that the suspect allegedly sold explicit materials to his classmates, who referred to him as "boss", with Agbede-Zuokumor stating, "We also saw chats with his classmates asking if he had explicit content to sell, and they were calling him 'boss' in school."

Investigations allegedly revealed that the teenager had gained access to the WhatsApp accounts of celebrities, which he used to solicit money from unsuspecting victims, with Agbede-Zuokumor saying, "We discovered he had access to WhatsApp accounts of some celebrities, which he used to demand money from unsuspecting victims."

Comedian I Go Save shared a similar experience, recounting an incident where a suspected scammer impersonated Elon Musk, saying, "That was how someone impersonating Elon Musk messaged me, saying he was stranded and needed a recharge card."

I Go Save expressed surprise at the scammer's request, saying, "I was surprised and asked which network he used, and the person later sent an Opay account."

The police have urged parents and school authorities to remain vigilant, warning that cyber-related crimes among young people are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
