Federal government directs public workers to operate remotely during APC convention

Civil servants based at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja have been instructed to work remotely on Friday, March 27, 2026, as the Federal Government prepares for the national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This directive was issued in an official circular signed by Abdul Garba, Permanent Secretary of the Service Welfare Office, on behalf of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack.

Several access routes around the Federal Secretariat Complex, covering Phases I, II, and III, will be closed from Friday, March 27, through Saturday, March 28, 2026, due to the event.

The closure affects all Ministries, Extra-Ministerial Departments, Agencies, and Offices located within the Federal Secretariat, Phases I, II, and III, with all access roads leading to and around the complex shut from Friday, 27th to Saturday, 28th March, 2026.

The road closures are necessary due to activities scheduled at Eagle Square, the venue for the APC gathering, which will host the party's National Convention on the said dates.

As a result, employees whose offices fall within the affected areas have been directed to stay off-site for the day, with those in Phases I, II, and III of the Federal Secretariat Complex, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, required to work from home on Friday, 27th March, 2026.

The circular also tasks heads of ministries, departments, and agencies with ensuring that the directive is communicated and fully observed by their staff.
