FCSC warns against fake recruitment links

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has warned members of the public against unauthorised recruitment links and messages circulating on social media and other online platforms.

In a press statement signed by the Head, Press and Public Relations, Ibraheem Zakariyya, on Friday, the Commission urged prospective applicants to verify recruitment information through its official website and authorised communication channels before applying.

The Commission said members of the public should not click on unsolicited recruitment links, submit personal information or make payments through messages circulated by individuals, WhatsApp groups, blogs, social media accounts or unofficial websites claiming to represent the FCSC.

It explained that recruitment into the Federal Civil Service was a regulated process, noting that appointments to posts graded GL.07–17 were made by the Commission as vacancies arose and after due advertisement.

According to the FCSC, such vacancies are required to be advertised in three national newspapers and on the Commission’s official website, with a specified deadline for applications.

The Commission also said applicants must meet the prescribed eligibility requirements, including relevant qualifications contained in the approved Schemes of Service.

It warned that recruitment was not conducted through private agents, middlemen or individuals claiming to have the power to secure employment, influence shortlisting or issue appointment letters.

The FCSC advised applicants to use only recruitment portals specifically provided in official announcements and to carefully verify vacancies, qualifications, application procedures and closing dates before submitting applications.

It further cautioned members of the public against paying anyone for recruitment forms, shortlisting, appointment letters or preferential treatment.

The Commission urged prospective applicants to provide accurate information and genuine documents, keep their application and reference records, and contact the Commission through its authorised channels or Help Desk whenever they are uncertain about a recruitment announcement.

It reiterated its commitment to a transparent, merit-based and rules-driven recruitment process, and advised Nigerians to verify recruitment information before trusting or acting on it.
