Fatal attack in Kogi leaves one dead, more than 30 abducted

Panic gripped the Ayegunle Bunu community in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State yesterday, as a bandit attack resulted in one fatality and the abduction of over 30 individuals.
nThe incident occurred at approximately 2:25 a.m., according to preliminary reports, and claimed the life of one person, while another person was injured during the attack.
nCommunity sources revealed that two local residents, a man and a woman from Ayegunle Bunu, were among those taken by the bandits, with the remaining victims being passengers on a commercial bus that was intercepted while passing through the area.
nThe Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, acknowledged the incident while speaking to journalists at the sidelines of the Passing-Out Parade of 565 newly trained police constables at the Command Headquarters in Lokoja.
nKankarofi confirmed that an investigation into the abduction is underway, and his team has initiated efforts to rescue the victims and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
