Fatal argument over bike fare: Ticket vendor killed in Taraba, pair taken into custody

Operatives from the Taraba State Police Command have apprehended two individuals in connection with the fatal stabbing of a commercial tricycle union pass distributor at Angwan Kassa junction, a suburb of Jalingo, the state capital, on Wednesday.

This incident sparked widespread panic among local residents and commuters, as the area was thrown into chaos following the violent confrontation.

The deceased pass distributor had been involved in a heated dispute with a commercial tricycle operator, who had allegedly failed to purchase the mandatory daily union ticket, prompting the distributor to intercept the operator.

The altercation quickly escalated into a violent clash, resulting in the pass distributor being stabbed and ultimately succumbing to his injuries.

ASP Victor Mshelizah, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Taraba State Command, confirmed that two suspects were in custody and cooperating with the investigation, stating that they would be charged in court once the inquiry was complete.

Mshelizah revealed that the suspects were currently undergoing interrogation, with the police working to gather all necessary evidence before proceeding with the case.

In response to the incident, commercial tricycle operators who normally ply the route from Area Command Junction through Angwan Kassa axis to Deeper Life Camp junction have suspended their services, leaving numerous commuters without transportation.

The resulting disruption has forced many commuters to trek long distances in search of alternative means of getting to their destinations, causing significant inconvenience and hardship.
