Europa: Betis battle back for 1-1 stalemate away to Braga

The match began with Florian Grillitsch scoring for the hosts in the fifth minute, using a clever near-post backheel to give Braga an early lead.

Cucho Hernandez eventually levelled the score for Betis in the second half, converting a penalty kick to leave the tie evenly balanced.

In their previous round of 16 matches, both Braga and Betis demonstrated remarkable resilience, overcoming deficits to qualify with impressive four-goal performances in their respective second legs.

The opening goal at Estadio Municipal was a result of Grillitsch's swift movement to the front post, where he executed a slick backheel that beat Betis goalkeeper Pau Lopez.

Lukas Hornicek, the Braga goalkeeper, was in top form during the first half, making notable saves to deny Marc Bartra, Abde Ezzalzouli, and Hernandez.

However, Hornicek's resistance was finally broken on 61 minutes when Hernandez scored from the penalty spot, sending the Czech goalkeeper the wrong way after Jean-Baptiste Gorby fouled Ezzalzouli in the box.

The remaining Europa League quarter-final first legs are scheduled for Thursday, with Nottingham Forest travelling to Portugal to face Porto.
