Eriksen has no plans to hang up his boots after suffering a second on-field collapse

Christian Eriksen's rehabilitation will take place in Denmark, according to Wolfsburg, following a frightening collapse during an international friendly match last month.

The incident occurred when Eriksen, 34, was playing for Denmark against Ukraine and suddenly fell to the ground, clutching his chest, which sparked immediate concern among his teammates, medical staff, and supporters.

Eriksen has a history of heart issues, having suffered a cardiac arrest during Euro 2021, after which he had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) fitted to detect and correct dangerous heart rhythms.

The ICD is designed to deliver an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat when it detects abnormal rhythms, and it reportedly activated during the incident against Ukraine, helping to stabilize Eriksen.

Despite the renewed concerns over his health, there is currently no indication that Eriksen is planning to retire from football, with Wolfsburg's latest statement suggesting he remains focused on his recovery.

According to the club, Christian Eriksen will soon begin an individual rehabilitation program, which he will complete in Denmark after a conversation with VfL managing director Dieter Hecking.

VfL Wolfsburg will maintain regular contact with Eriksen as well as his treating physicians throughout his rehabilitation, and the club wishes him all the best for his recovery.

Wolfsburg has not provided a timeline for Eriksen's return to the pitch, with the midfielder expected to continue his recovery under medical supervision in Denmark.
