Enugu APC denies rumors of widespread defections, insists party remains stable

The All Progressives Congress in Enugu State has categorically denied rumors of internal strife and mass defections, affirming its unity and resolve ahead of the 2027 general elections, with members working in tandem to secure robust electoral outcomes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Peter Mbah.

The party's State Publicity Secretary, Chief Uche Obute, issued a statement dismissing allegations of crisis as false and misleading, designed to sow discord within the party, and describing claims of unpaid stipends to delegates at the national convention as completely fabricated.

Chief Uche Obute emphasized that reports of crisis and agitation are entirely unfounded, representing a failed attempt to create division within the party, with the APC in Enugu State remaining united and focused on its goals.

The party also rejected reports of mass resignation as baseless and unfounded, stressing that its structure in the state remains intact and fully functional, with significant political consolidation achieved under Governor Peter Mbah.

According to the APC, Governor Peter Mbah has strengthened the party's presence in the state, with all National Assembly members, local government chairmen, and councillors in the state aligned with the party, alongside other key stakeholders.

The party noted that both old and new members are fully integrated into its structure at all levels, from wards to the state executive, demonstrating its commitment to inclusiveness and unity.

The APC pointed to key party positions occupied by members of the old APC bloc in the South-East, including the Zonal Woman Leader and the Deputy National Chairman (South), as evidence of its inclusive approach to party governance.

Under the leadership of State Chairman Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, the party remains united, focused, and determined to consolidate its growing political strength in Enugu State, undeterred by propaganda attempts to undermine its progress.
